Health has emerged as a major priority in recent years. It may seem like we’re constantly making sacrifices for our health, from monitoring every cough and sneeze to walking the extra miles. Yet there are still pockets of the United States where living a healthy lifestyle is a top priority.
To motivate you to adopt healthier habits in your own life, I will describe some of the healthiest cities in the US.
1. San Francisco, CA
There are 874,784 people living in the Californian city of San Francisco. The healthiest city in the US is San Francisco, which is located in San Francisco County. San Francisco residents enjoy a dense metropolitan vibe, and the majority rent their homes.
The good news is that San Franciscans work out frequently — nearly 60% of their work-out three times a week or more, and most of them do so for at least 90 minutes each time. The inhabitants of San Francisco use alternative therapies.
There are numerous pubs, eateries, coffee shops, and parks in San Francisco. San Francisco has a large population of young professionals and liberal residents. San Francisco’s public schools are better than average.
2. San Jose, CA
San Jose, another healthiest city in the US, San Jose, another of the healthiest cities in the US, with the second-highest percentage of residents with healthy BMIs and the greatest percentage of nonsmokers. San Jose also spends a lot of money on wellness. The third-highest spending city on health and fitness is this one.
3. Washington, DC
It is the third-healthiest city in the US and the capital of the country. 78% of residents work out at least once a week, demonstrating their dedication to fitness. Over 40% of Washington residents have BMIs that are within the normal range because of all the movement they get.
DC places a high priority on intellectual health. Moreover, half of the population participates in frequent creative and intellectually challenging activities.

4. Atlanta, GA
In terms of receiving enough rest and spiritual fulfillment, the city comes on my healthiest cities in the US list. Atlantans also spend a lot, coming in second only to Miami in the amount they spend at salons and spas, fitness centers and gyms, and wellness businesses.
5. San Diego, CA
This city is one of the most active cities and has the highest percentage of residents with a normal body mass index (BMI) as defined by the CDC. San Diego, though, contributes far more than just fitness to its top three rankings.
More than half of locals obtain the appropriate amount of sleep, regularly check their health, and drink the daily suggested serving of fruits, vegetables, and water. The biggest percentage of citizens in the United States nearly 70% also claim to have time for recreation and enjoyment.
6. Los Angeles, CA
The city is ranked well in terms of a number of wellness indicators, including having the third-highest level of spiritual fulfillment, having a high percentage of non-smokers, and having a high percentage of citizens who exercise for at least 90 minutes each week. Los Angeles is the city where outdoor workouts are most frequently scheduled because of the amazing weather it enjoys year-round.

7. Austin, TX
Austin residents improved their fitness routines, for starters. Today, 78% of people exercise at least once a week (up from 74% the year before). Austin is known as the place where people are most likely to schedule a midday workout because of its abundance of lunchtime athletes.
The city’s top 10 rankings, however, are based on much more than just exercises. The percentage of abstainers in Austin increased from 39% in 2021 to 46% in 2022. Additionally, 52% of locals participate in mentally challenging and creative hobbies.
8. Seattle, WA
Seattle is the eight healthiest city in the US on the list. Residents don’t appear to be discouraged by the rain when it comes to wellness; 61% report that they find time for pleasure and play, and 76% report that they exercise at least once per week.
To support all that activity, they maintain hydration: 60% of locals consume six to eight glasses of water daily. Seattle also values its community. Nearly 40% of inhabitants say they feel linked to their community, and a large majority of locals say they have close relationships with their family and friends.
9. Raleigh, NC
Raleigh residents have improved their health noticeably this year, with 44% abstaining from excessive alcohol intake (up from 39% last year). 73% of locals exercise at least once a week.
10. Berkeley, CA
A city in California with the name of Berkeley has 123,065 residents. One of the healthiest places to reside in California is Berkeley, which is located in Alameda County. The majority of Berkeley inhabitants rent their homes, giving residents a sense of living in an urban-suburban mix.
There are numerous bars, eateries, coffee shops, and parks in Berkeley. Berkeley is home to many young professionals, many of whom are liberal. Berkeley’s public schools are well-regarded.
11. Irvine, CA
The population of Irvine, a city in California, is 272,694. One of the nicest places to reside in California is Irvine, which is located in Orange County. The majority of residents in Irvine rent their homes, giving residents a sense of living in an urban-suburban mix.
There are numerous eateries, coffee shops, and parks in Irvine. Irvine has a large population of families and young professionals, and its citizens typically hold moderate political views. High praise is given to Irvine’s public schools.

Within 60 miles, 19 acute care hospitals are accessible to locals. The city’s citizens spend 16.8% less than the national average on healthcare-related services and goods, and less than 11% of them have annual checkups and health screenings.
14. Boulder, CO
Every year, Boulder is listed as one of the healthiest cities in the US to live in. It boasts outstanding schools, a wide variety of family-friendly activities, clean air, and pure drinking water, making it the perfect area to raise children. There are numerous ways to enjoy the outdoors. Rock climbing, trekking, and skiing are good options for adrenaline enthusiasts.
There are also a ton of running and cycling trails. Another aspect that distinguishes this community from others is its continuous emphasis on holistic wellness. Numerous acupuncture practices, yoga studios, and marijuana dispensaries are all present.
15. Plano, TX
Plano, Texas, one of the healthiest cities in the US, is tucked away from the hectic action of Dallas but close enough for residents to enjoy access, the arts, and entertainment. It’s no surprise that it’s gaining popularity given that it has reasonably priced homes, top-notch public schools, and first-rate healthcare.
Connectivity to health safety is equally important as material well-being or financial security.
