The coronavirus outbreak has brought hospital bed capacity to the forefront of public discussion more than at any time in the previous 18 months. Oncology, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, gynecology, urology, and pulmonary and lung surgery are all nationally regarded at the University of Chicago Medical Center. University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital, which is nationally regarded in neonatology, cancer care, gastroenterology, and urology, is also located in the medical center.
3. Advocate Christ Medical Center – 802 beds
A multi-specialty teaching hospital, Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn has 802 licensed beds and is the third-largest hospital in Illinois. One of the major non-profit health systems in Illinois, Advocate Health Care, owns and operates it.
Oncology, cardiology, neurology, orthopedics and women’s health are some of the specialties that Christ Medical Center serves. Also, gynecology, cardiology, and heart surgery are among nationally recognized specialties at the hospital. Emergency services are provided to more than 105,000 patients each year at the medical center, which features one of the state’s busiest Level I trauma centers.

5. Advocate Lutheran General Hospital – 651 beds
The Advocate Lutheran General Hospital is authorized for a total of 651 beds, including 313 medical and surgical beds, 74 critical care beds, 62 gynecology beds, and 54 neonatal intensive care beds. It is located in Park Ridge, a suburb of Chicago and the fifth-largest hospital in Illinois.
Advocate Health Care owns and operates the institution, which is a general medical and surgical center and a teaching hospital. Cardiology, cancer, neurology, orthopedics, women’s health and prenatal care are some specialties offered by the medical center. In addition, it has a Level I trauma center and a comprehensive stroke center in its emergency department.
6. OSF Saint Francis Medical Center – 649 beds
In Peoria, the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center is a 649-bed non-profit academic medical center run by the Catholic Sisters of Saint Francis.

Trinity Health’s Loyola University Medical Center is the largest of three hospitals administered by Loyola Medicine, a non-profit academic health system situated in the western suburbs of Chicago.
Three adult specialties at Loyola University Medical Center are nationally rated, comprising gastroenterology and GI surgery, ENT, pulmonology, and lung surgery. Additionally, for cancer treatment, cardiology and heart surgery, geriatrics, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, and urology, it is ranked highly.
8. Northwest Community Hospital – 509 beds
The Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, a northwest suburb of Chicago, is a 509-bed general medical and surgical center. In addition to its Level III newborn intensive care unit (NICU), Level II trauma center, and specialized pediatric emergency department, the multi-specialty hospital sees more than 20,000 inpatients each year.
9. AMITA Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center – 495 beds
Health system AMITA Health operates a 495-bed hospital complex called Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in Chicago and the nearby suburbs.
Among AMITA Health’s 14 acute care hospitals, this one is the largest. Among the many specialties of Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital are minimally invasive robotic surgery, digestive health, cancer therapy, cardiovascular surgery, and maternity care for expectant mothers. 10. UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital – 485 beds
There are 485 beds at the UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital, which is a general medical and surgical hospital in Harvey, Cook County, Illinois.
